Plimiri is some 85km to the south of Rhodes Town at Cape Vigla. It is a very quiet, sandy bay backed by low dunes. No hotels here, the bay is used only by fishermen and a few tourists looking for a quiet spot to spend the day.
There is a very good reason to dive at Plimiri because it is home to the wreck of the cargo ship Giannoula K. Built in the Netherlands and launched in 1953, the Giannoula K went through several owners and by different names before sinking in Plimiri in 1981. Lying at a maximum depth of 22m and still virtually intact this is a fabulous wreck dive. The wreck is reached by rib. The mast just breaks the surface, making a convenient descent and ascent line to the 110m length of the wreck.
