Myconos is one of the Cyclades' most touristic holiday destinations. This granite cosmopolitan island attracts thousands of visitors every year and is known for its exciting nightlife and fabulous beaches. It is an island with world renowned clubs attracting jetsetters across the world. Many of them have built their own private summer residence. Hora or Mykonos Town offers traditional houses with brightly painted balconies, narrow paved paths, beautiful artifacts inside the Archaeological Museum of Hora and a pretty harbor with simple fishing trawlers as well as luxury yachts. This scenic flatter island is not as green as its neighbors Tinos, Naxos and Paros, but is created out of rocks with sparse vegetation.

The islands most famous church is Panagia Paraportiani located on Kastro Hill which actually is comprised out of four different chapels. Ano Mera is another much quieter traditional village with sights such as the monastery of Our Lady Tourliani. Some of the better known beach-areas are Paradise Beach, Agios Stefanos Beach, Kalafatis Beach, Psarou Beach, Plati Gialos Beach, Ornos Beach, Elia Beach and Panormos Bay, almost all with umbrellas, gift shops, restaurants and bars. Some of them can get crowded especially nearby Hora and during the summer holidays. Visitors interested in history should visit the island Delos with its archaeological museum, temple of Apollo and Street of the Lions. Snorkelers and divers will like Agios Ioannis Beach which has some of the densest underwater scenery of Mykonos. The Anna II is a popular wreck dive site attracting pelagic species such as Amberjacks. Whatever your interests are, Mykonos is a place known throughout the world for its excellent parties and pretty surroundings.
