Greece is a country known for its many picturesque islands, its mild climate, pretty beaches and ancient Greek mythology. You can explore the beautiful capital Athens home to the Acropolis and the National Archaeological Museum. Mythological highlights are mount Olympos (roof of the world and home of the gods), the Minoan temple of Knossos in Crete and the oracle of Delphi with its amphitheater. It is one of Europe's finest sail destinations, a country with traditional fishing villages as well as resort towns with some of the most exclusive parties. A country of history, ancient architecture and museums stuffed with artifacts.

With this many islands, scuba diving is more common than in other Mediterranean countries. Whether you explore the reefs of the Ionian Islands such as Corfu, Lefkas, Kefalonia or Zakynthos or the regions Arsida, Korinthos, Patroklos or the Argo-Saronic Islands near Athens, they are all beautiful with plenty of water activities. The islands in the Aegean Sea are protected from oceanic currents and waves by the island Crete, providing for quiet and relaxed scuba diving locations. Trikeri and the Sporades such as Skiathos are located nearby Lefteris Reef, one of Greece's best reefs being hazardous for ships since the start of mankind. Lesbos, Thamos or Samos, some of the northern Aegean Sea Islands, are popular holiday destinations for divers but even more so for beach resort tourism. The Cyclades in the center include cosmopolitan islands such as Mykonos and Santorini but also slightly less touristic islands such as Paros, Naxos and Andros. In the south of the Aegean Sea you will find the somewhat rocky Dodecanese Islands with many remains from the ancient Greek as well as Medieval and Venetian times. The Knight's Castle on Kos and the city center of Rhodes offer fantastic sights of castles and forts. Patmos, Karpathos, Kasos and Chalki are some of the other common spots in the southeast of Greece.

Its marine life is surprisingly diverse with turtles, seals and plenty of coral reef fish. Pelagic species are found at the deeper dive sites while some spectacular muck diving is popular on one of its many coral reefs. Nudibranchs and sea slugs are some of the macroscopic marine species worth searching for. It is a place to relax, to party and to enjoy its rich natural underwater wonders.
