Karavos Beach, also known as Pirates' Fjord, is a small natural harbour, surrounded by a breathtaking rocky scenery in the area of Plakias. It lies on the tip of a large rocky cape, 5 km east of the town of Plakias. It is an organized beach, offering free umbrellas, sun beds and showers and it is right below Kalypso Cretan Village hotel. This beach is a great choice in the windy days of August, since it is protected by huge vertical rocks in its north, offering shelter from both wind and surge.

You can book daily dives to various dive sites in the rocky sea that surrounds the beach. The sea bottom begins from 10 meters in the center of the cove, down to very high depths, close to the shore, offering the option for multilevel dives for all kinds of recreational divers. The sea life is rich, since it is protected from fishing, including all kinds of Mediterranean fish, sponges and vegetation and sea turtles.
